One of the highlights of the day was 15-year-old Marlene Piper's performance in the juvenile women's broadjump. Marlene placed second with a leap of 16 feet 11 inches. This was her best jump in competi- tion this season. Kalmar also placed second in his 220 yard heat, finishing fifth in the finals. He took 4th place in the juvenile men’s 100 yard dash.
