Innis, and the government told the returned men. they would not be frogeotten, yet after® the. war ‘12,000 veterins had no alternative but relief, She said the government is afraid to state its war. aims, and has not stated what- it wants in this war, The C,C.F., she explain- ed, wants the war to end, but at the same time is not going to allow the zovernment to escape its duty. Dealing with peace issues. she thinks that the Liberals super- annuation plan is merely the Old Age Pension Act. Surely some of the $815,000,000 to be spent -in Cannda for war this year, could be spared to the old people. To aid the young ‘people. the C.c.F. proposes a large scale housing plan for Canada. In closing Mrs. MacInnis’ said that Mr. Grantham, our eandidate, . had the welfare of the people at heart, and she urged the meeting to vote for him on March 26th. Mr. Grantham’s speech follow- ed, when he spoke at great length on the ceonomie condition of Can- ada at the crisis, the C.C.F. atti- tude toward the war, and dealt mainly with newspaper clippings of Mr. King’s doings, and: how the. working people’ were thinking” about) the: war. and the EOvers= ment.
