Forest Service air tanker base on the west side of Pat Bay Airport went into action for the first time Thursday morning to put out a forest fire north of Highway 14 near. Sooke. But the operation wasn’t all it appeared to be. In fact, it was just a test run for the new forest fire fighting base — and the Sooke blaze had been specially prepared.
