Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Wood, Deep
Cove, have returned from a vaca-
tion spent at Kamloops.

After a week spent in Vancou-
ver and Port Mann = with her
daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. F. A. Baron and son, Her-
bert Beale, Mrs. Annie Beale re-
turned. last Sunday. Herbert
Beale, accompanied his mother
home and will return next Sun-
day to Port Mann.

Mr. and Mrs. Art Smalley, pub-
lishers of the Elrose Review, El-
rose, Sask., who are spending a
vacation at the coast, visited last
week with friends in Sidney and
were guests of Mr. and Mrs. H.
J. MelIntyre. Mr. and Mrs.
Smalley lived for over four years
in Sidney while Mr. Smalley was
in the Air -Foree.

Portland, Ore., is a. guest of his

Air Companies
Are Turned Down

The Air Transport Board has
denied applications for three
specific air services routes involv-
ing Alberta and British ‘Columbia.

The first application from. Oka-
nagan Airways Limited, proposed

a scheduled commercial air ser-
vice transporting passengers,

goods and mail between Vancou-
ve,r, Penticton, Trail and Cran-
brook, B.C. and Lethbridge, Alta.
The second between Vancou-
ver, Penticton and Lethbridge.
The third application was sub-
mitted by the Capilano Airways
Limited, who proposed — similar
service between Vancouver, Pen-
ticton, the Trail-Nelson area, and
Kimberley, B.C. and Lethbridge.
