But there are others who, through circumstances or pation cannot have a vacation during the summer months and have to take it at other seasons. In places of this nature it is the busy time for them, and let us hope they were ‘able to make hay while the sun shone. And that the summer trade is over they can turn their minds to other things, or | relax after the rush of the season. : SUPPORT THE FIRE BRIGADE There is an organization in town that is not receiving “the support that it deserves. We refer to the Fire Brigade. A volunteer group of men who, go out when called upon, to protect property when a fire breaks out. They fullfil a needed part in a community of this size and are worthy of | all the support they can get. Working without pay or com- | pensation for their damaged clothing while fighting fire, | besides having to close up their businesses at such time. | They are discouraged and consider it unfair while others hold back who-could help. So back up the Fire Brigade, they need funds too. OFF TO SCHOOI Next week another school term begins after the long holiday. For some little tots it will be their first attendance at a public school. Others have been promoted to higher + grades. Some may not be returning as they may,on account fo the labor shortage, have secured a position of a kind, and would rather earn a little money than go back to school. Ambition for higher education is drawing those, who have passed through High School, to the University. May they be successful in this start in a new life. Sadness swept over the district when the news of the death of the Duke of Kent was heard. He was a popular and well-liked member of the Royal family.
