72nd year of life, was out practising in Saanichton Bay this week. Incredibly
enough he appears to be in better shape than ever and told The Review

photographer that come Christmas morning he will be celebrating the day by
rowing four miles. His 17 foot dugout has been professionally timed at speeds up

to seven knots.

located at 9726 First Street,

The property, which was
formerly zoned apartment-use
was recently re-zoned — to
residential, The owners, who
had operated a play school in
the house on the property,
found they could not continue
fo run it and proposed to
council that the building be
turned into offices.

The owner, who was present
atthe) meeting, said the
proposed use of the property
would be less noisy than a
Playsehool and that parking
has been arranged ata nearby
hotel,

The municipal engineer went
out to look at the property and
his recommendation was that
the house be put to residential
use,

This was oa ludicrous
suggestion, aecording to the
developer, who said that taxes
alone on the house are $1,300a
year and that the livingroom
fur the house would be about
equal to the size of an entire
hose ona §0-foot lot

He said that if the house
were remodeled to residential
use it would be oa $100,000
