On this subject apparently you are labouring under a misappre- hension as to the prevailing facts, or the information you received is coming from a source that does net understand some processes of law, and most stubbornly refuses to be informed or coached in res- pect to the necessity of the Board taking action to conform to Mun- icipal and Provincial Sanitary reg- ulations, and contracts entered into with the American Coin Lock Co. Last year the park was faced squarely with total closure unless the premises were renovated and a satisfactory toilet arrangement povided. The building previously out) in front of the Beach store was re-! moved to the park and set up there. Immediately the question a- rose as to the operution of this unit. It was decided to enter into | fa contract with the American coin leck Co, for the installation of coin locks nat only for privacy but as a source of revenue to care for the upkeep of this unit. In the agreement the Coin Lock Co. divided the taka on a 80-40 basis. These locks were only in operation a short time before the Polio epi¢smiq which caused the whole park to be used little, if at all. Never-the-less approximat- ely forty seven dollars in \nickels were deposited in the boxes during that time. One of the members of the board did not out right agree with this installation, but accepted the de- cision of the Board without the rancor and hub-bub that unfortun- ately has been continually pursued by the Junior member throughout the year to date, Upon the advise of competent authorities these locks that had been removed without authoriza- tion were ordered replaced to avoid sible legal action Mr, Editor is a clear pic ture of \the situation, In to these locks; possibly an incon venience temporarily, but with some balanced judgement this dift- ficulty can be adjusted without a lot of bally hoo In rest toilets, this respect t to the sugge avy an attempt to pro vide sanitary accommodation down in the tent and trailer area, until mich time that a hook up can be mado with the incoming sewers system, This necessity has be n over looked during reconatruction of this area The people using thia Ave pay a f ore » for tent and trail no he ce the added necessity of Inatatiation fo be made in some way As the Park Board offices are eitiatod 1 Semiahmoo Park woul reapeottully sugmost that veliable data and information’ be seeured POOQLLLLOOOOOOOOOOQONGOOQOOOOLOLOS Veyetable per tin ‘Tomatoes per tin Gren Pea per tin Asparagus per tin * Cele per tin Karo Syrup Vinegar 1 Gal, WAS Ac, : : Friday, July 2, 1948 direct from our secretary Mr. John Farmer, : After long service of some twenty years the present chairman of the Bourd Mr. Wm, Bothwell, @ former councillor and Mr. Farmer who has been an official in the municipal hall for a long period the laying of a foundation in the erection of a park was begun. In later years Mr, Tom Reid M. P. and Ex-Councillor Graham, and last years chairman Mr. Len Eade this park was brought under control of the Municipality, and operations commenced by a legally constituted Board. Ex Reeve Joe Brown was a prime mover in the preliminary moves in this endeavor and Ex Reeve J. Russell Archibald who likewise understood and undertook the necessary arrange- ments in the election of the Board. This land situated upon the In- dian Reservation under final con- trol of the Indian Department at Ottawa was secured under lease and certain terms of this lease in must be observed by this Board to the very letter of tHe lease in order that the full aforesaid agreement must not be violated in any sens¢ that may jeojardize or cause total cancellation. This communication has been compiled in an endeavor to give the citizens of Surrey and particul- arly those in the White Rock area a view of the Semiahmoo Park set up at this time. Further it has been officially noticed a few times that commen- tary furnished the Sun has not been in line with the exact events and consequently has caused some confusion.
